Mandy’s Musings

Where does the time go? I cannot believe how fast time flies by, it seemed like yesterday I wrote my first blog, then in the blink of an eye two weeks have gone by and here I am writing the second.

This got me thinking that we really must make the most of every moment of every single day!

I know for so many of us being away from our loved one during the last few months may have seemed like an eternity and not flown by so quickly at all, so now we can see each other again let us make every moment count!

Throughout our homes over the past couple of weeks we have been doing just that. Having our loved ones visit us again and take family members out and home for tea has been very emotional and joyous for all of us.

Here is a little glimpse of what we have been up to over the past couple of weeks.

Tamar House has certainly been making the most of the sunshine with afternoon teas in the garden and trips to the pier with ice-cream treats. We also had a visit from some rescue owls who came to meet us in the garden.

Kevlin House have also been enjoying spending time in the garden taking Bertie our dog and Daisy our tortoise along with them to catch a few rays! Our garden club is blooming we have sunflowers, tomatoes, and cucumbers to name but a few.

At Belvoir House everyone has put their dancing shoes on, and we have had a garden visit from Chris our regular singing entertainer, who fills the homes with music and laughter with his jokes and lovely songs from the 50’s and 60’s.  Rock around the clock is a firm favourite.  After such an exhausting day we all decided to have a pyjama day with all staff and residents just chilling out in the PJs for the whole day.

We also celebrated a few birthdays over the last couple weeks, making each one special with lots of cakes, presents, balloons and banners and of course our traditional buffet teas which are making quite a name for themselves!

Lastly …. We all like to look our best, don’t we? and how wonderful it is to have our lovely hairdressers and Barbers visit us after such a long time. We were all so excited! It made us all realise how we take the little things for granted until we no longer have access to them. So, at Rhencullen we make the most of every day, minute and second – what a lovely way to be!

We have a lot of fun events coming up over the next couple of months so please do continue to follow me a join us on our fun journeys!

Best wishes and take care.
